The comedy writing duo of James Benti and Mark Mahar team up once again to present Jamie's original short film "The Pee Pee Dance".

Los Lonely Boys crash Mark's Rat Pack Cafe Show

Two of the 3 brothers that make up the Grammy award winning band "Los Lonely Boys" (most famous for their hit song "Heaven") dropped in at the Rat Pack Cafe to hear Mark & Boston Swing perform to an intimate ticketed audience. Everyone had a great time. Also in attendance were the cast of HDMtv (Hoss & John) and Image Icon's Jamie Benti & Christine.

Original Song Finalist- New New Orleans

The final results of the 2005 Unisong International Song Competition are in, and the organization has named Mark's song (New New Orleans) as a finalist in the Jazz Category.
Mark and the Mahar Family would like to congratulate United States Marine Corp. Company C, 1st Battalion (1052nd and all the new Marines who graduated with them). Ooh-Rah, Semper Fidelis. We're proud of you Luke.

One of Mark's original songs has received "honorable mention" through the Billboard World Song Contest (placing his song, "New New Orleans" in the top 1500 among others in their 13th annual worldwide contest). Kaylee Ann Pitts was born this week at a whopping 9lbs. 3oz. (21-1/2" long). Though hardly a "little girl"...she is a joy I'm sure the Pitts' thank heaven for. Congratulations you guys- you're gonna be great parents.

The International Song Competition just notified us that Mark's original song has now advanced to the semi-finals (over 15,000 entries worldwide). Finalists will be announced in March.

James Benti and Mark Mahar teamed up to shoot a few commercials for the consumer website "AutoXcite.com". This shot is from the first of three videos entitled "He Took The Deal"
Their new baby girl (Olivia) entered the world 3 weeks early...I guess she didn't want to miss a thing (Bill is the Manager at Boston's famous Lucky's Lounge and is now a proud papa). Congratulations and Happy New Year!

I don't see any of you nearly enough.
It takes an enormous amount of discipline to dismiss my urge to go to a movie, watch TV or hang out with my friends. I don't always enjoy the time behind my desk, but having a successful career in entertainment requires every waking minute (that which I have the sanity to spend on it). I get to be on stage doing what I love...and that's the price I pay (for now anyway).
As the holidays abound I find myself measuring what I am thankful for, and how I got where I am...you all come to mind.
The show HomeTeam (hosted by The Apprentice's Troy McLain) has selected Mark's version of Pennies from Heaven for the Las Vegas Episode. Thanks HomeTeam. (we'll keep you posted as we get information on the broadcast episode).
Mark- Personal note: I just want to say thank you to my friend Michael Goods for looking me up while in town with the Aaron Nevile Band (and for introducing me to the man, the legend :-). The band included me as their guest at a New Orleans fundraiser at the Berklee Performing arts center. Aaron's latest release is "Gospel Roots"...worth checking out.
I had great time in Chicago, hanging out with my fellow crooner, Derek Stroh, and my manager. We had a photographer with us all week (Thanks Susan!) so I'll get some pictures posted as I get my hands on them.
Just want to say hey to Rachel Charlson. We hung out at a cool joint where she sang to us all night! Thanks Rachel. The Green Mill, great company, walked Chicago (Fly Me To The Moon; the worst joint EVER!) and the best pork chop ever at the "Pepper Lounge" on Sheffield St (where Derek lost his glove, never to be heard from again). All 5 of us had a blast. Thanks Derek- you're a great host and you got some very cool folks!

Mark and Boston Swing can now be heard on the following Stations in the greater NY area" WPKN 89.5 FM * Bridgeport WPKM88.7 FM * Montauk (often voted among the top three of the Best F.M. radio stations by “The Weekly”, which serves the FairfieldCounty, area of CT. “The way radio ought to be!“ said “Connecticut Magazine”).
Mark and Boston Swing can also now be heard on popular radio stations in RUSSIA.

Man! The new CD sounds AMAZING! I've only heard the rough mixes, but I cannot wait to share the finished product and get this tour rolling. The band is on vacation for the first half of August, but I'm going to do my best to have this CD out before September 1st. I'm waiting on our incredible engineer (Rob Pemberton) to mix and master about 40 songs from the Recording Session and the Live Concert. With that big a workload, Rob doesn't need us over his shoulder screaming deadlines...so I'm excercising my patience. It will be well worth it. 10 original songs and one Standard. I am SO critical of my own stuff, and even I think it sounds amazing. Raz and I are going into the studio to do a couple bonus tracks with piano/vocal. I just can't wait to utter those final last words..."Ship it". 9 months of planning went into this project, we're very close to delivery. Not only is our "baby" gonna be born, but it's healthy too. Who could ask for anything more? You're gonna love it!

I don't use this journal feature nearly enough. What a great way to share my insanity with everyone. I'm just having a quick snack break and answering emails. I've been working on things all night (3:30AM) and will be up for another 5 hours. You can expect to see a lot more media samples and stuff in the coming week. I'm starting to feel the excitement of this release. The CD is now in final mix phase, and so is the DVD. It is taking much longer than I expected- but there was so much great material to choose from- thanks to the band and our amazing engineers (no complaints there). The tour might be delayed because of the long process, but that too is worth it (having a CD on tour is kind of important). The people who are involved in these projects are the best in the business. John Farrell, Rob Pemberton and Shawn Mills have worked magic to help me share my performance on CD and DVD...everything exceeds my expectations.

What a great way to start the Careless Moon Tour.
Last night's show was incredible...with impeccable lighting and sound for the DVD. Some of the stuff from the show is definitely going to end up on the new CD.
I had a great time and would like to thank everyone (crew to audience) who made the night so much fun and such a great 2 day experience (and in my hometown theater).

I've had an exciting week. I broke my personal record for most hours worked in 7 days (126). The Tour and the first concert date are coming along nicely. The music is almost done (great studio session with Raz on Thursday). I'm having a blast. I got my first fan mail from Spain...THAT'S SO COOL. THANK YOU! 37 days and counting...tick tock Clarice.
